The inventor of the Cobb Salad didn’t create it for fancy. In fact, it was for an urgent need when he had to prepare a salad for his guest while all the workers were away. So he used the leftover foods and prepared the salad. Later on, it was added to his restaurant’s menu, the Brown Derby restaurant, famous in Hollywood. |

Lemuel Benedict |

After a night of heavy drinking, Lemuel Benedict came back to his hotel, the Waldorf-Astoria. There he ordered a toast with bacon, hollandaise sauce and poached egg. Instead, he received English muffin with ham, hollandaise sauce and poached egg. This led to the invention of the dish named after him, the Eggs Benedict. |
