Abercrombie & Fitch drags Beyonce to court

Wednesday, September 16 2009

Apparel chain, Abercrombie & Fitch have filed a lawsuit against Beyonce Knowles on Tuesday claiming that the pop singer's perfume label "Sasha Fierce" may confuse people with the "Fierce" brand of the retailer.

Beyonce has planned to release her own line of perfumes next year with Coty Inc. Abercrombie has stated that the confusion generated out of similar naming can lead to loss in sales for the company and they have regarded this as potential trademark infringement, deceptive trade practice and unfair competition.

Yesterday, Coty declared in a statement that it will not be using the terms "Fierce" and "Sasha Fierce" for the name of the line of perfumes.
