As predicted by industry experts, "Angels & Demons" reached the top spot at the American
and Canadian box office and sold $48 million within the opening 3 days. But that is way
behind what its predecessor, "The Da Vinci Code" had grossed. "The Da Vinci Code" had
reached $77 million in 3 days of its opening.
However, the president of the Sony Corp's worldwide distribution unit feels that the total
domestic sale of the movie should exceed $150 million. Columbia studios also feel very
happy with the response the movie has achieved so far.
No matter what, the impact of "Angels & Demons" was pretty heavy on the box office as it
forced last week's topper "Star Trek" to come down to #2.
