Annie Leibovitz Enthralled by Michelle Obama

Annie Leibovitz Enthralled by Michelle Obama

Wednesday, May 6 2009

by Joe Halls

The March issue of Vogue was an experience of a lifetime for famous photographer Annie Leibovitz because she got the chance to meet and even take photos of the First Lady Michelle Obama herself.

"The most extraordinary thing that she does is she lets you be yourself. She wants you to be yourself, and there's no airs. It's great -- she's smart, she's beautiful," she said. "I've known them since the beginning -- when (President Barack Obama) was still running for senate. What's so great is ... we've worked with these people for a period of time, so it's almost like you feel more comfortable with them."

While Leibovitz was assigned to capture the photogenic moments of the First Lady, Andre Leon Talley, Vogue magazine editor-at-large, did the interview. "(Talley) said it better than I could ever say it. I pretty much let him do all the talking because he really did such a beautiful job. I was just pulled along," she shared.
