We have heard lately that Ashton Kutcher and his beloved Demi Moore have launched a new campaign in order to put an end to child slavery in Haiti.
They told more about it in an interview with the social media site Mashable. The couple explained some things about their position against the Haitian system of "restavec." This way we found out how a Haitian child is sent to work as a servant for another family. This fact could only lead to preventing the kids to obtain an education and other opportunities during their developing years, both Demi and Ashton sustained.
The couple's Demi & Ashton Foundation is sponsoring a campaign in order to convince people to participate at a March 31 United Nations meeting. They also want to determine the participants to make donations to the earthquake-ravaged nation. They also insist that the restavec system should be banned. "Let's support the Haitian people, but let's support them the right way, and let's support all of them; don't forget about the 300,000 children that are enslaved," Ashton told the site.
The handsome actor also added that he would not be alone in this, hopping to get support from Twitter and sites like Mashable. "It's going to take a lot of loud voices," Ashton completed.
After all, we see that Demi and Ashton are not left alone with their initiative. TV One Access correspondent Quddus has been closed to them, as he is willing to support the Free the Slaves organization. Now, the Hollywood stars are hoping others will pitch in, as well."It's about creating the awareness that draws the line of what's acceptable and unacceptable," Demi told Mashable in a recent interview. "Any human being enslaved is unacceptable. As long as one is enslaved, then we are all enslaved. It's an atrocity to stand by and let this happen."by FW Editor |
