Barack Obama awarded Nobel Peace Prize

Saturday, October 10 2009

Taking the whole world by surprise, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to U.S. President Barack Obama and this has caused both criticism and appraisal from people around the world. The audience present at the announcement ceremony that took place in Oslo were shocked as Barack Obama has not achieved success in any major foreign policy. The Peace Prize was awarded for promises Obama has made to the citizen of his country and the world.

Obama said he feels deeply humbled and surprised and regarded the prize as a "call to action". "I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments but rather an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations", he said in response.
