After nearly five years of marriage, famous singer Billy Joel, 55, and his 27-year-old wife Katie Lee called it quits.
A statement given by the couple's representatives said, "After nearly five years of marriage Billy Joel & Katie Lee Joel have decided to separate."
"This decision is a result of much thoughtful consideration. Billy & Katie remain caring friends with admiration and respect for each other," the statement read.
Prior to the announcement, there were already rumors about the troubled marriage of the two. In retrospect, Joel and Lee tied the knot on October 2, 2004 wherein the singer’s daughter Alexa Ray was the maid of honor.
