Britney Spears Saddened by Ed McMahon s Passing

Wednesday, June 24 2009

Pop diva Britney Spears was saddened and affected by Ed McMahon's passing on Tuesday as he succumbed to cancer. The TV personality died at the age of 86.

After hearing the news, Spears posted on Twitter, "I am deeply saddened by today's news about Ed McMahon."

The songstress went on, "He is responsible for giving so many artists their first shot, including myself. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed."

In 1992, the Womanizer singer, who was just 10 years old that time, joined Star Search, which was hosted by McMahon, wherein she sang Naomi Judd's 'Love Can Build a Bridge.' She won during the first round but lost in the succeeding round.
