Cameron Diaz on Coping with Father's Passing

Monday, June 8 2009

by Joe Halls

During her promotion for the movie My Sister's Keeper, Cameron Diaz told reporters how the cast and crew helped her cope with her father's death while filming the said film.

It was remembered that Cameron was shooting My Sister's Keeper when Mr. Emilio Diaz succumbed to pneumonia in 2008. "I was really, really fortunate to have these people to come back to," she said. "Being able to go back to the group of people who were there waiting for me was a blessing... so that's really sort of the only way I was able to do it."

Film director Nick Cassavetes added, "To talk about this subject, you really have to say that people are more important than movies, and we forget that sometimes… We were all stunned to find out that he had died so suddenly and, apparently, he was a hell of a guy and a gigantic influence on Cameron."
