by Joe Halls

Carly Smithson, the sixth placer of American Idol season seven, joins former Evanescence band members Ben Moody, Rocky Gray, and John LeCompt in a new rock band named The Fallen.

Ben Moody, the founding guitarist of Evanescence, told Los Angeles Times blog Idol Tracker, "We began looking for our soulmate, which we were scared was going to take a long, long time."

Smithson rightfully said that the offer was "pretty awesome." She continued, "I'm excited to be able to completely jump out of the box. The Idol thing, you know, was very PG, it was for a family audience… I've never been more happy than being in this band." The Fallen is planning to tour around the United States and to record songs as well.
