In the 2010 US Open women's single tournament, danish player Caroline Wozniacki, made it to the semifinals, after being seen the main favorite at only the age of 20.

In the first round, she easly passed by Chelsey Cullickson, from United States in two mirror sets, 6-1, 6-1. In the second and third round, she passed two Hong-Kong players, K-C Chang and Y-J Chan, losing only one game. Eventually, in the last 16, also the fourth round, she defeated Maria Sharapova, in two sets 6-3, 6-4. The quarterfinals odds placed her in front of Dominica Cibulkova of Slovakia.

She passed her in two sets, and advanced to the semifinals against the 4th seeded Vera Zvonareva, who forced her to a narrow defeat.

In the finals, the russian player lost to back-to-back title holder Kim Clijsters. This was her second best performance at US Open, after the 2009 final, lost against Kim Clijsters.
