Less than two hours before the live show, stage manager Debbie Williams fell from the long retractable staircase. Besides, a huge tower on the set toppled over causing shattered glass on the American Idol stage.
In a joint statement, FOX, FreemantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment stated, "During rehearsal today a crew member had a mishap on set and was immediately taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. We have no further information at this time."
After the rock-themed performance night, Ryan Seacrest wrote on Twitter that Williams "is doing much better."
Because of these unexpected events, the spectators were only allowed to enter the studio 20 minutes before the show aired. A staff was even heard saying, "Ignore your tickets. Just grab a seat wherever you can!"
