According to Digital Spy, the Californian actress Christina Applegate who is 38 years old will launch in September 2010 a charity campaign called "Right Action for Women" to help women with high risk of developing this disease to have access to appropriate prevention methods.
The female star of television series "Samantha Who?", "Jesse" or "Married with Children" was herself a survivor of breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy in 2008 to prevent a relapse of the disease.
The main reason why she developed this program is to help women detect this disease in early stages of the event, saying these for WENN.com: "It is a program that provides financial support to high-risk women who can not afford such an investigation of similar NMR with the result which I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, the insurance companies in the United States don't cover the costs of an MRI.
It's an incredible medical equipment that can detect cancer in the first stage. We started the pilot program and have already helped some women, although we haven't officially launched the project.
The other aspect of the program consists in genetic tests, awareness of women that shows a high risk to develop cancer. This is my mission.
Triple Golden Globe Award nominated crosses a happy time in her life since she recently announced that is pregnant with her first child and became engaged on 2/14/2010 with the leader of alternative rock band Porno for Pyros - Dutchman Martyn LeNoble (41 years).by FW Editor |
