Emanuela Daffra said at a presentation at the Brera Gallery, Milan, on Thursday that the restoration of Raphael's famous painting, The Wedding of the Virgin, was an "emotional" work.

The masterpiece had become darker and was restored for the last time around 150 years ago. It was also repaired in 1958. But this major restoration of the painting allowed Daffra to have a very close look at it. She said that she was moved to watch the famous painting so closely.

Raphael painted the masterpiece when he was only 21 in the year 1504. The painting shows the marriage of Mary and Joseph with a church prominent in the background. The restoration had taken nearly an year to complete. The frame of the painting has also been restored.
