Daniel Day-Lewis received an honorary university degree

Tuesday, August 3 2010

Contactmusic.com informs us that on Thursday, 07/15/2010, the British actor Daniel Day-Lewis (53 years) was awarded an honorary degree by University of Bristol and officials that attended the ceremony were dressed in a traditional red robe and wearing a black cap with yellow cord.

The double Oscar winner has been selected to receive a degree in recognition of his professional performance, but also to mark the star's emotional connection with Bristol City, where he attended the School Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Daniel Day-Lewis studied for three years at the academy opened in 1946 by Laurence Olivier.

The star of movies "There Will Be Blood," "Gangs of New York", "Nine", "In the Name of the Father" or "My Left Foot" is not the only celebrity who was awarded with the academic title, this week, Orlando Bloom got a degree from University of Kent and Kim Cattrall was honored in a similar way by Liverpool University.
