The long wait is over as the top 2 American Idol hopefuls, who will go head-to-head in the finals, are already revealed. With more than 88 million votes cast, Ryan Seacrest announced the safe contestants and the one headed home.
Danny Gokey, who became a household name after he revealed the story of his wife who passed away due to congenital heart disease, was eliminated. With that, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert are the ones going to the finale.
Guest performers on the results show included Katy Perry performing "Waking Up in Vegas," and season 6 winner Jordin Sparks singing her first single "Battlefield" from her sophomore album.
Just recently, Allen won the coin tossing and he chose to be the last performer in the finale.
