Geoffrey Rush played the role of a dying king in the Broadway comedy named "Exit The King". This stage act is the first time for Geoffrey Rush in Broadway. The story was about a king who is 400 years old and preparing to face death, supported by his two wives, one of whom was played by Susan Sarandon, the Academy Award winning actress.
The acting of the 57 year old Oscar-winning actor earned his huge reviews from critics. The New York Post feels that an actor of his calibre deserves to be cast in plays like "Macbeth", while The New York Times commented that Geoffrey Rush had given a "knockout performance" on stage. The Daily News was also full of praises of the Australian actor.
But reviews did not go so well for co-star Susan Sarandon. The Daily News said that she did not give a performance which she gives in her vibrant movies. The New York Post said that the way Sarandon was uttering her dialogues, it seemed as if she is "unsure where she's meant to be authoritative or just in a bad mood".
