It seems that Tim Burton didn't consider casting his partner Helena Bonham Carter for a role in "Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street", or at least not at first. The actress worked quite hard to convince him and even took singing lessons to persuade him in the end.
Helena played the part of Mrs. Lovett alongside Johnny Depp. Obviously the press stated that she only won the role because of her relationship with director Burton. However, the eccentric actress insisted that Burton put her through a grueling casting process and spent three months auditioning other actresses - while she took singing lessons.
In the end the singing lessons seem to have paid off as she won the role and gave a stellar performance in the movie.by FW Editor |
