Universal Music has clinched a deal to gain all administration rights of the Jimi Hendrix catalogue for five years. The geographical limitation of the deal includes all countries except the USA. The elements which have come under the Universal music administration as a result of the deal include all commercial rights of the catalogue ranging from advertising to motion picture licensing.
In the USA, the rights for the Hendrix catalogue rests with the company from Seattle named Experience Hendrix. Janie Hendrix, sister of the left-handed legend, is the President and CEO of the company, originally founded by James Hendrix, father of Jimi Hendrix.
