A recording done by the legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix will be auctioned by Fame Bureau in May. As estimated, the rare record will be sold for USD 70,000 to USD 140,000.
Mark Sutherland, who is among the owners of the tape, said that Hendrix had recorded it in 1968 in New York. Later on, he brought it to England. In London, Hendrix stayed in the house of Carl Niekirk. Carl was often disturbed by the frequent coming of guests to meet Hendrix. So Hendrix made him a favour for a favour by giving Niekirk a pair of his personal recordings.
Sutherland had acquired the tape from his friend who had bought it from Niekirk and had been involved in a legal fight with the Hendrix estate. But now, Sutherland has finally got the rights to auction the tape. The existence of the second tape is unknown.
Fame Bureau, the auctioneer, will be setting the tape for online auction on April 28.
