The German-American soccer player John Anthony Brooks who plays for Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga scored the winner for United States in the 86th minute with a header off a corner kick.
The captain of the United States, Clint Dempsey opened the scoring in the first minute and gave the Americans a dream start after just 31 seconds. For him is the fifth fastest goal in World Cup finals history.
