Jon Bon Jovi Opens Charity-Based Restaurant in New Jersey

Wednesday, October 26 2011

Jon Bon Jovi and wife Dorothea have opened up a charity-based restaurant in central New Jersey. The restaurant, named Soul Kitchen, has a unique feature: it servers gourmet-quality meals, many using ingredients from its very own garden, at no prices.
Customers are encouraged to simply leave whatever amount they wish in an envelope on the table. Everything is going to the charity. However, is someone can't afford to leave anything, he is encouraged to offer some of his time as volunteer.
"With the economic downturn, one of the things I noticed was that disposable income was one of the first things that went," the veteran rocker told The Associated Press. "Dining out, the family going out to a restaurant, mom not having to cook, dad not having to clean up - a lot of memories were made around restaurant tables."
