TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 is losing more audience as time goes based on the show’s declining ratings. The episode on Monday had 3 million viewers which is way less than the 10.6 million viewers who witnessed the announcement of the couple’s separation on June 22.
Now that Jon and Kate shoot their scenes separately, many viewers may not like the new set up. Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University's founding director Robert J. Thompson opined, "I don't know if the show can make that new transition (from two parents raising eight kids to one parent raising the children)… It's like if The Cosby Show, mid-season, suddenly became Married With Children."
Monday's episode featured the respective escapades of Jon and Kate with their kids. Kate went to Bald Head Island, N.C. with the boys to enjoy a battleship. Jon, on the other hand, spent time with Cara and Mady go-karting.
