James Kambewa, who is believed to be the father of the 4-year-old Malawian girl whom Madonna wanted to adopt, told CBS's The Early Show in his interview that he wants his daughter to be raised in their culture.
"I want to take care of her, and I'm capable of taking care of my baby," he said. "Mercy, she is a Malawian, so (I) need her to grow as a Malawian… with our culture."
Kambewa added that he has not seen his daughter's face in personal; he has a glimpse of her "in newspapers and TV, not face to face."
Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's spokesperson, stated that she has no clue if the man is really the biological father of the Malawian girl because Mercy has lived in an orphanage since she was born.
