The reigning Miss California USA pageant winner Carrie Prejean, who also placed first runner up in the Miss USA 2009, remains controversial. Prejean allegedly violated her contract by working with a national group with their advocacy that's against same-sex marriage, and by posing almost nude as a model when she was 17.
Pageant directors have yet to decide whether Prejean will lose her crown or not. They are still reviewing the 12-page contract that contestants ought to sign before the beauty contest. "As you can see from the contract, she violated multiple items," Roger Neal, Miss California USA spokesperson, said.
However, Prejean commented, "I am a Christian, and I am a model. Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos… My comments defending traditional marriage have led to intimidation tactics that seek to undermine my reputation and somehow silence me and my beliefs, as if opinion is only a one-way street,"
