Morgan Freeman is the new voice behind CBS Evening News

The American famous actor Morgan Freeman, is the new official voice from the generic that announces the beginning of "CBS Evening News", the most important day news from the famous television channel CBS. Morgan Freeman replaces Walter Cronkite who died on 17 July 2009. The new generic with Morgan Freeman voice was released for the first time on 4 January 2010.

Sean McManus, general director of CBS News and Sport department stated in a recent interview: "The lost of Walter Cronkite is a tragic event. No mater how much joy the career of Walter Cronkite can bring us, we must look forward and now is the time for a change in CBS Evening News department."

The collaboration between Morgan Freeman and CBS is going to be a long one and with advantages for both sides. CBS hopes to make numerous records with Morgan Freeman voice that are going to be use in the future for various shows and news programs.
