Oprah Winfrey is desperate to win an Academy Award

Monday, December 6 2010

The billionaire media mogul has told pals she's convinced her new project - working alongside Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock in a movie centered around a TV shopping channel - will finally bring her the Academy Award she's coveted for decades.

The film - helmed by Sex and the City director Michael Patrick King - has been described as a comedy that follows women played by Meryl, Sandra and Oprah Winfrey as they "make their way through a maze of marketing, marriages and the media" at a fictional version of the Home Shopping Network.

"Oprah believes working alongside two Oscar winners will finally bring her the one award she has wanted the most," a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.
