Researchers from Iran have found out that drinking very hot tea can result in throat cancer. The article published in the British Medical Journal indicated that consumption of tea which is hotter than 70 degrees can increase throat cancer by nearly eight times. Drinking tea below 65 degrees is a lot safer, they say.

The study was conducted by a team from Tehran University of Medical Sciences led by Reza Malekzadeh. They studied the tea drinking habits of 571 healthy people and compared them to 300 people who suffer from throat cancer. The research was carried on inhabitants of the Golestan Province of Iran.
