The $1 Million Painting That Brad Pitt Bought

Friday, June 12 2009

by Joe Halls

Brad Pitt truly has a heart for art and creativity. An apparent indication for this was when the A-list actor attended the Art Basel festival featuring the artworks of thousands of artists both in 2008 and this year respectively.

And not only that, Pitt, 45, reportedly bought a painting made by German artist Neo Rauch worth $960,000 which was displayed in the annual modern art fair in Switzerland recently.

Such masterpiece named Etappe, which means 'to a leg of a race', was described as an "enigmatic and dreamlike" illustration by New York's David Zwirner Gallery.

Based on reports, the said painting was not the actor's first choice since he was eyeing on a different artwork by Rauch. His first choice, however, was already reserved for a museum.
