Whitney Houston Comeback Album Has Come

Tuesday, September 1 2009

After seven years of hiatus, Whitney Houston releases her sixth studio album I Look To You on Monday. Industry experts predict the album to sell between 300,000 and 400,000 in the U.S. in its first week.

Arista Records also has high hopes for the album wishing it could be one of the year's best sellers. For her new material, Houston worked with great songwriters including Diane Warren, Alicia Keys and R. Kelly.

Arista's senior VP of marketing and artist development Scott Seviour said, "This is a cultural event… The enthusiasm and the energy for this release is palpable." Rolling Stone’s editor Caryn Ganz, however, is in doubt of the album saying, "It's a Beyonce world. I don't think Whitney has a clear place anymore."
