Whitney Houston Previews Nine New Songs

Thursday, July 23 2009

The anticipated new album of Whitney Houston, which will be released on September 1, was heard by a star-studded audience at the listening party in New York City where nine songs were previewed.

"It took us three-and-a-half years to reach this point," said Houston. The crowd included the songstress’ 16-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, mother Cissy, and cousin Dionne Warwick.

In her remarks, Houston shared what her mom once told her, "'I'm tired of the old songs on the radio. I'm tired of people taking off their clothes… I want to hear a beautiful lyric and a beautiful melody.' And I just hope that what you heard tonight, that's what you got."
