Though Winona Ryder was the lead star in the 1999 film Interrupted, it was A-list actress Angelina Jolie who received most of the commendations. In fact, she even received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress back then.
Ryder told Empire magazine that she had no ill-feelings to Angelina Jolie because of that. "I knew from the outset that whoever played Lisa was going to get all the attention. At one point they asked if I wanted to play Lisa and I said, 'No, I want to be Susanna.'"
She conferred, "But there was no resentment. When it came out, people almost felt bad for me. But I expected it all along. I was really happy with the film, and really proud of it."
